Marcin Mazur

Colonel Marcin Mazur is vice president of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA), an executive agency of the Ministry of Economy Development and Technology, established in 2014. POLSA supports the Polish
space industry, cooperates with international agencies and public administrations in space exploration and utilization.

Col. Mazur's goal is to implement the Polish Space Strategy issued in 2017, which is in line with both the NATO Overarching Space Policy 2019 and the EU Space Strategy for Security and Defense 2023.


Colonel Mazur entered military service in 1998 and was promoted to the first officer rank, second lieutenant, in 2002. He graduated from the Military University of Technology in Warsaw with a degree in topography and cartography. He began his career as a geospatial reconnaissance officer in the 6th Independent Geographic Detachment in Toruń, where he became commander of the Mobile Geographic Security Team, dedicated to the NATO Response Force.

Colonel Mazur then served at the NATO Joint Forces Command in Brunssum, the Netherlands, in the Geospatial Support Section, J2 Reconnaissance Board, and as an officer in the Imaging Section at the Military Geographic Center in Warsaw, from where he was assigned in 2012 to serve on the Polish Army General Staff, Intelligence and Reconnaissance Analysis Board - P2, Imaging Reconnaissance Branch.

Col. Mazur's goal is to implement the Polish Space Strategy issued in 2017, which is in line with both the Space Strategy for Europe 2016 and the NATO Overarching Space Policy 2019. An additional task is to implement the National Space Program for 2022-2026.

Colonel Mazur's responsibilities at POLSA include systematizing security and defense activities, particularly the development of dual-use capabilities that can have military and civilian applications:

  • EO - Earth observation satellite systems;
  • SATCOM - satellite communications systems;
  • SSA / SST - Space Situational Awareness / Space Surveillance and Tracking;
  • Launch technologies.
