Mateusz Machalski

Mateusz Machalski, PhD, works at the Department of Graphic Design in the Multimedia Artistic Creation Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was selected as Designer of the Year 2019 in the Polish Graphic Awards. He is the winner of a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists. Five-time Scholarship recipient of the Minister of Culture. Winner of the "Young Poland" scholarship of the National Cultural Center. Member of the board of the Association of Applied Graphic Designers for 3 years. Member of the program council of the International Poster Biennale. Member of ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). Winner of The best of Design 2018 award - Club of Advertising Creators. Recipient of the "Animator 2020" Award in the DESIGN ALIVE competition.

Decorated by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Centennial Medal of Regained Independence. Curator of the 28th International Poster Biennale. Art director of newonce.paper and Warsawholic magazine. Author of more than 60 type families, numerous corporate and multiscreen typefaces and more than 150 visual identities of companies, institutions and events. Team leader for the digitization of "BRIDE 1918," which premiered at the Presidential Palace with the participation of the President. Author of the Bona Nova intergenerational project carried out together with Andrzej Heidrich, the creator of Polish banknotes.

Author of numerous texts and articles on graphic design, visual culture and typography. Co-author of TYPOTEKA.PL - the first Polish index of typography and numerous exhibitions and cultural events.
